In this episode of the PSA BizTech Podcast we are joined by Christelle Keefer, the Global Business Development Manager for Education at ABB Robotics.
Christelle was recently named one of the 10 Women Shaping the Future of Robotics in 2024 by the International Federation of Robotics. She also serves on the Robotics Technology Strategy Board for A3 and mentors robotics clubs, using her expertise to advance educational initiatives worldwide. Christelle and her team at ABB Robotics are helping to bridge the skills gap with new Robotics & Automation training facilities, partnerships and training packages.
She shared a special “success story” with us about Wheeling High School that you don’t want to miss! She has been collaborating with two amazing teachers there, Tom Steinbach and Michael Geist.
Christelle explained that “the school started their manufacturing curriculum in 2008, which now includes CNC machining, welding, tooling design, 3D printing, laser cutting, and robotics. With nearly 350 students, some as young as age 14, participate in robotics courses annually. Wheeling High School chooses to use ABB’s curriculum materials & certification programs because they are adaptable and flexible.”
She goes on to say, ”At Automate this past May, the students at wheeling High designed and showcased their amazing ABB DJ robot with lights, music and playing a keyboard. They did such an amazing job, the teachers and students were invited to showcase even more of their projects at IMTS in Chicago this September 9-14. If attending the show, be sure to visit their booth #121544 in the Student Summit section. One demo will be of their DJ robot, and the other will showcase the ABB GoFa cobot. I’ll leave the details of the GoFa demo as a surprise—come see for yourself what the students have created.”
